Political strategist and policy advisor, Baba Yusuf, has continued his critique of the 2023 presidential election strategy of Peter Obi, questioning the electoral impact of the Labour Party’s vice-presidential selection.

Yusuf made the remarks during an interview from 18:40 on Channels Television, where he analysed key decisions that shaped the party’s performance at the polls. Speaking as Group CEO of Global Investment & Trade Co., he focused on the role of political alliances and grassroots influence in determining electoral outcomes.

According to Yusuf, the choice of Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as Obi’s running mate did not deliver the expected regional advantage. He argued that other political figures within the party structure demonstrated stronger local mobilisation capacity during the election.

“The issue is that Nenadi Usman gave more votes from Kagarko than the VP candidate,” Yusuf said, suggesting that the vice-presidential pick underperformed in comparison to other party stakeholders at the constituency level.
