Obunike Ohaegbu, a House of Representatives aspirant for the Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in Anambra State, has challenged claims made by ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo regarding allegations linked to Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress primary election.

Ohaegbu made the remarks during an interview from 5:40 on Njenje Media TV, on Tuesday, 9 June, 2026, where he addressed statements attributed to him by Okonkwo and sought to clarify his position on the controversy surrounding the party’s primary election process.

During the interview, Ohaegbu denied sending any message to Okonkwo accusing Peter Obi of being involved in fraudulent activities or alleging that Obi personally requested money from aspirants to support a presidential campaign. He challenged the former Labour Party presidential campaign spokesman to publicly produce any communication that supports such claims.

“Kenneth Okonkwo I’m talking to you now. If you said I sent you a message. Please if you can show any message where I chat you and said Peter Obi is the head of scam or Peter Obi asked me to pay N10 million, or members of Southeast caucus asked me to pay N10 million because Peter Obi needed it to run for his presidency,” Ohaegbu said.

The aspirant further insisted that he was prepared to accept responsibility if evidence emerged proving that he made such claims. According to him, he would go beyond a public apology and completely withdraw from political activities.

“I will not only apologize to Peter, I will not just apologize to people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, I will not just apologize to Nigerians, I will resign from politics,” he added.
