Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said he has consistently supported internal party processes and prioritized unity following presidential primaries throughout his political career.

According to a statement reported by LEADERSHIP, on Sunday May 3 2026, Kwankwaso recalled that in the 2014 APC presidential primary, he emerged second behind Muhammadu Buhari, who later won the election. He noted that Atiku Abubakar came third, Rochas Okorocha fourth, and the late Sam Nda-Isaiah fifth in that contest.

He further stated that in the 2019 PDP presidential primary, he contested the ticket but went on to support the eventual winner, Atiku Abubakar, also serving as his Northern campaign coordinator. He emphasized that his political decisions have consistently been guided by party loyalty and national interest.

He stated,
