Federal lawmaker Honourable Leke Abejide has alleged that the viral video in which Presidential Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila appeared to encourage him to remain in the ADC and scatter the party was made in jest and has been badly misrepresented.

Speaking in a media coverage on Channels TV from 7:56, Abejide said, “Let me place on record that I was not in the ADC to scatter the party that I laboured so abundantly to build. Contrary to the video going viral where Right Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, advised me to stay in the ADC, contest my re-election, fight for my rights, and scatter the political marauders from the party. Gbajabiamila’s statement was made in a jovial manner, and not to scatter any political party, and it was taken out of context. He was even encouraging me not to leave my party and wished me good luck in court.”

Abejide described the exchange as typical of the lighthearted banter shared among National Assembly colleagues, including on their group chat platform where jokes are commonplace.
