Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has reacted to comments made by Doyin Okupe, his former campaign director. Okupe recently said that President Tinubu was better than Obi and former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in terms of capability

During an interview with Arise TV from 31:51, Peter Obi emphasized that Okupe’s opinion is personal and does not bother him. He said that what matters now are the current issues in Nigeria. He questioned if daily essentials like garri and yam have become cheaper and if the government is effectively managing corruption. Obi urged everyone to focus on solving these real problems.

Peter Obi confidently stated that he is fit to be the President of Nigeria. He said he has the necessary education, competence, and background to stand out among other candidates.

In Peter Obi’s words: “No, it didn’t hurt. It is a personal assessment, it is just personal to him. And like I said, all these things that happen I don’t want to make comments on them because what we are talking now is the present position. Is garri cheaper? Is tuber of yam cheaper? If it will make garri or yam cheaper then it is fine with me. If it is going to help in managing the corruption we are passing through, fine with me. Let us stay with issues, we have a problem. I am fit to be president of Nigeria, I am competent. Put me in line with other people who are competing in terms of education, competence and background, I can stand tall against them comfortably”….Sée Móre
