During the interview, Onwubiko stated, “Asari Dokubo said, ‘His boys are fighting in Imo State and Kaduna State.’” He referenced comments attributed to Asari Dokubo, which he said raise serious questions about the nature of armed activity and accountability in parts of the country.
Onwubiko expressed concern over such statements, arguing that remarks suggesting involvement of armed groups in multiple states should not be treated lightly, especially given Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.
He noted that states like Imo and Kaduna have experienced different forms of insecurity over the years, including violent attacks, kidnappings, and communal clashes, which already place pressure on security agencies.
The human rights advocate emphasized that public figures must be careful with their language, as statements linked to armed activity can heighten tensions and create fear among citizens.
He further argued that security agencies should thoroughly investigate any claims or admissions that suggest coordination or involvement of armed actors across regions.
Onwubiko also stressed that Nigeria’s security response must be consistent, transparent, and focused on protecting civilians, rather than allowing political interpretations to overshadow urgent security realities.
He concluded by urging authorities to strengthen intelligence operations and ensure that no individual or group is allowed to operate outside the law, warning that unchecked statements and actions could worsen instability in affected areas. Read_More…
