Babachir Lawal, a member of the ADC and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has stated that he once caught two herders grazing their cattle on his farm.
In an interview from 24:39 with Channels Television, Lawal said the Fulani herders told him that they could do whatever they wanted and they had the right to graze their cattle on his farm because the president during that period was a Fulani man. Lawal stated that the incident happened while he was still serving as SGF under late President Muhammadu Buhari.
In Lawal’s words: “When I was in my farm some years back I saw two Fulani men pushing their cows into my farm and when we accosted them they told us that, ‘Do you think we are here without approval from somebody? This is our government and we can do whatever we want, including pushing our cows into your farm’. You won’t believe this thing happened when I was SGF. And why were they saying that?
