Founder of Power City International church, Abel Damina, has made a strong statement regarding the popular teaching on giving and financial prosperity in Christianity.
During a recent teaching session in his church, which was aired on TVC communications, Pastor Damina stated that there is no scripture in the Bible that guarantees that those who give will never experience lack.
According to him, the widely used phrase “givers never lack” is not directly supported by any specific biblical verse. In his words, “There is no Bible verse that says givers will never lack. Giving will not make you rich.”
He explained that giving, by its nature, involves releasing part of one’s resources, which means it reduces what a person currently has rather than increasing it immediately. He emphasized that the act of giving should not be presented as a guaranteed pathway to financial wealth.
Pastor Damina further clarified that while giving remains an important aspect of Christian practice, it should be understood within a spiritual context rather than a financial expectation. He noted that presenting giving as a means to become rich can create unrealistic expectations among believers.
According to him, teachings on giving should be based strictly on scriptural accuracy rather than assumptions or commonly repeated phrases that are not explicitly stated in the Bible.
