Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker has taken to his official X handle to point out the challenges faced by INEC chairmen amid the controversies that trailed the decisions of professor Joash Amupitan. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he also recounted how the people treated the former INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega.
Professor Joash Amupitan, the current chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was recently singled out for special knocks for his decision to de-recognize the leadership of the ADC led by Senator David Mark.
However, while many believed his actions were politically motivated, Senator Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former federal lawmaker in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, defended the electoral umpire.
According to his statements, he pointed out that not a single decision from the INEC chairman will go without scrutiny. To drive down his points, he recounted how the people treated erstwhile INEC boss, Attahiru Jega.
Attahiru Jega, according to the former federal lawmaker, was declared an enemy in the North when he declared former president Goodluck Jonathan as the winner in 2011.
However, according to the outspoken lawmaker, the same people turned around and sang his praises after he declared former president Muhammadu Buhari as the winner in 2015.
