Dele Momodu recently spoke about a reason former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida once gave for annulling the June 12, 1993, presidential election.

Speaking in a video shared by TVC from 6:43, Momodu mentioned that Babangida once stated that certain powerful people who were his allies would have killed both him and Moshood Abiola if he had handed over power to Abiola in 1993.

Momodu said after these powerful people made up their minds not to let Abiola take office, it became difficult for Babangida to go against them alone.

In Momodu’s words: “Babangida had mentioned that his guys were going to kill him and Abiola if handed over to Abiola. So I believe that the moment they made up their mind collectively that they were not going to hand over to Abiola, it because difficult for Babangida alone to be the fall guy”
