The Niger State Police Command has arrested three vigilante members accused of murdering a traveler, Muhammadu Bello, in an incident that has sparked outrage. The suspects, Habibu Usman (35), Tanko Abara (25), and Maigero Abdullahi (26), were apprehended by officers of the Kontagora Area Command following the tragic incident.

According to police reports indicate that the 30-year-old traveler, Bello, was intercepted by the vigilantes at a security checkpoint while traveling on his motorcycle from Kontagora to Rijau. During the stop, the vigilantes discovered N940,000 in his possession. Instead of protecting him, the suspects allegedly turned against him, fatally shooting him and abandoning his body in a nearby bush.

Bello’s disappearance was reported by his family, prompting an investigation that led to the recovery of his body and the arrest of the suspects. During interrogation, one of the suspects, Habibu Usman, reportedly admitted to the crime and implicated another member, Lawal, who is still at large. Police investigations are ongoing to apprehend any other individuals involved.
