In a candid interview on Arise TV From 5:02, the Zenith Labour Party Chairman, Dan Nwanyanwu emphasized the importance of obeying court orders, regardless of their perceived validity or significance.

He argued that members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who lost their seats due to party defection cannot regain their positions without going through another election or being re-admitted by their original party.

He criticized attempts to delay the inevitable and stressed that the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter is final and cannot be changed.

He highlighted the constitutional provision regarding party divisions, explaining that such divisions must occur at the national level, as political parties are primarily based in Abuja and operate through their various organs. He urged all parties involved to accept the legal realities of the situation and refrain from further attempts to manipulate the outcome.

He said, “Once you have gone to court, whether real or vexatious or frivolous, you obey the court. They are only postponing the evil day, those members of the State House of Assembly can never come back, unless through another election, through another political party, or maybe their party will readmit them to re-contest, but they have lost the seat. Go to Supreme Court, we cannot change the goal post. The train has since left the station, why are we doing like this?

Supreme Court has already taken a position on it. There was no crack or division, which was a provision given in the constitution, if there is division in the party. Division here means division at the national level, because political party are the ones in Abuja, others are organs of the party.”….Seë_Morë
