Former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has defended the over 300,000 votes recorded by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his local government, Obio/Akpor, during the recently concluded local government elections in Rivers State.
In a video shared by Viable TV, speaking at a media parley, Wike dismissed doubts about the result and insisted that his people genuinely supported the PDP. “We won and my people believe, whether you like it or not. It’s not by coming out,” he said.
He criticized those who appear on TV stations like Arise News, claiming they often lack real knowledge about elections in Rivers State. “You have always preferred those who will come to Arise, people who don’t have facts,” Wike stated.
Wike also explained why he was confident about his political strength. According to him, he has deep knowledge of Rivers’ politics and can correctly predict how each local government would perform in an election. He pointed out that despite strong opposition in past elections, the PDP still came out on top.
Wike explained that in 2015, a governor in the APC couldn’t stop them. In 2019, even when the federal government used the army, it didn’t work. And also in 2023, the same minister supported Atiku against us, but it still didn’t work.
He argued that these patterns show that PDP’s victories in Rivers are genuine and not by chance.
