PDP Chieftain Umar Sani has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of resisting the party’s planned convention because it would resolve the ongoing political crisis within the party.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust from 16:04, Sani explained the purpose of the proposed convention and why he believes Wike is opposing it. “What we were trying to do was to conduct a convention that will systematically, without any problem, run the political party. We are not supposed to be fighting ad infinitum. We are supposed to find a way—an easy way—to ease out everybody who is not working for our interests. And this is what we are doing, and he is resisting that. That is why we are getting these attacks. Wike knows that this is the end, and that is why he is fighting tooth and nail to ensure that he scuttles it.” he said.
Sani went further to question Wike’s loyalty to the PDP, suggesting the minister has already aligned himself with the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He alleged that Wike has taken sides with the APC rather than working for the PDP’s interests, describing the minister’s actions as anti-party activities.
According to him, Wike’s bold stance is being supported by his allies who hold leadership positions within the party, enabling him to undermine party unity.
Despite these challenges, the PDP chieftain maintained that the recent court ruling did not prohibit the party from proceeding with its convention, asserting that the PDP can still move forward with the planned event within the coming weeks. View, More,
