In a recent video on YouTube, political analyst Dahiru has weighed in on the simmering tension between former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting what he believes are legitimate grievances driving Wike’s actions. According to Dahiru, Wike, who played a significant role in supporting the President’s rise to power, now feels sidelined and has begun working strategically to challenge the current administration.
Dahiru notes that Wike’s discontent is not baseless. As a key political figure who invested effort and political capital in the Tinubu campaign, Wike appears to be disillusioned with the outcome of that alliance. This sense of betrayal has reportedly fueled his efforts to undermine the President, particularly in the Muslim North, where he has begun to exert subtle but significant influence.
Wike’s growing political maneuvering in that region is notable, given its importance in Nigeria’s electoral calculations. Dahiru likens Wike’s role in the North to the kind of influence once held by former President Buhari, suggesting that Wike may be positioning himself as a critical player in reshaping Northern political sentiments.
Looking ahead, Dahiru posits that Wike and his allies could be charting a strategic course that may seriously challenge the Tinubu administration. He suggests that if Wike truly aims to unseat the current leadership, his next moves will likely involve forging strong alliances that tap into regional discontent and reorient national political dynamics.
According to him, “Wike has grounds against the President — legitimate grounds — because he worked for the President. Hate him or love him, he has a basis to be angry, and he has been working assiduously to undermine the President, particularly in the Muslim North, where he’s like the Khalifa to Buhari. He’s like the brain box of the Muslim North.”
“But let me give him a tip: if he really wants to see the back of the President, let me tell you what he would do — and I think they may be on the path to really achieving that.”
