Pastor Chris Oyhakilome, founder and General Overseer of Christ Embassy, explained in a recent YouTube video why he had to part ways with certain gospel singers in his church. “Why did it happen? I told you in 2020 why it happened: because the church was playing games,” he said.
According to Pastor Chris, the church had lost its way of worship. He lamented that churches had been transformed into party places rather than prayer places where God’s word was truly celebrated.
He noted that everything changed; the music in the church became worldly. “They danced for themselves and celebrated themselves, not God. How many of those singers were soul winners? They were never soul winners.” Pastor Chris accused these singers of merely leading praise during services and then abandoning the congregation for other churches when it was time for prayer.
He claimed they were professionals making money from the church—charging for their singing and pretending to sing praise to God. “It was all a charade,” he stated, adding that many pastors were unaware that this worldly influence had infiltrated the church.
He recalled how he initially tried to change the culture, but when his singers refused to follow the true direction of worship, he was forced to let them go. “I had to let them go ’cause God was getting my attention and telling me, ‘No, this is not the way.’”
Pastor Chris further explained that despite having become popular and making some money, the allure of financial gain had overcharged their hearts, leading them astray from God’s intended path for worship.
He warned that one day, churches that currently invite these singers for special performances will cease to do so once they repent and return to true worship. “True praise is in the house of God, not from a minister traveling from place to place collecting money.”
Pastor Chris concluded by urging believers to remain spiritually minded, watchful, and devoted to prayer, emphasizing that authentic worship must always honor God.
