Pastor Ishaya Adamu, the President of the Kaduna Baptist Conference and proprietor of Bethel Baptist High School, has shared what students of his school went through in the hands of bandits who kidnapped them in 2021
Speaking in an interview with Brekete Family, a human rights program, Pastor Adamu said that, while in captivity, the students lacked basic necessities, such as soap for bathing. He disclosed that whenever the students went to bathe, the bandits would follow them. He said the students were forced to undress and bathe in the presence of the bandits.
Pastor Adamu also recounted that some students attempted to escape but, unfortunately, ended up in the hands of other bandits, compounding their ordeal.

In Adamu’s words: “There was no soap for them to bathe with. When they are going to bathe the bandits would be there with them, they would take off their clothes in presence of the bandits and that is how they would take their bathe. Some students that attempted to escape, on two occasions, fell into the hands of other bandits. I was the one negotiating with bandits from beginning to the end and the experience I had with them was not funny.
