One of the chieftains of the Labour Party, Prof Pat Utomi has taken to his official X account on Saturday to react to the issue between the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti.
Prof Pat Utomi reacted after the Senate suspended Natasha Akpoti for six months, sealed her office, withdrew her security aides and also withheld her allowances throughout the duration of the suspension.
While celebrating women on International Women’s Day, Pat Utomi condemned the decision of the Senate to suspend the Kogi senator. He said now that Natasha Akpoti has been suspended, the people of Kogi state have been denied adequate representation in the House.
Pat Utomi advocated for proper representation of women in politics and leadership positions.
According to Pat Utomi on his official X account;
“The centre for values in leadership has on International Women’s Day often pointed to the better representation of women in the legislatures like in Rwanda than in Nigeria.
“What a time for the Akpabio Senate to send off one of the only four in that chamber on frivolities, denying the people of Kogi the representation they voted for”.
