The Labour Party has raised alarm after its National Chairman, Julius Abure, was allegedly attacked at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by a woman identified as Precious Oruche, also known as Mama P. The incident took place on Friday and has been described by the party as an assault sponsored by people working against democracy.
In a video shared by TV Platinum from 6.05, following the attack, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, accused Dr. Tanko Yunusa, a spokesperson linked to the Obidient movement, of encouraging unrest through his statements on social media. Arabambi said Yunusa’s response showed a pattern of incitement, which could lead to mass protests and civil disobedience.
The Labour Party called on the Inspector-General of Police to arrest Yunusa for treason and incitement. It also demanded that the case involving Precious Oruche be moved to Abuja for further investigation.
Arabambi further argued that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, should be placed on a security watch list. According to him, Obi’s criticism of Nigeria at the international level amounts to damaging the country’s image and creating instability, similar to events that once happened in Nepal.
The party also expressed concern about Oruche’s alleged statement that she would attack any government official she considered an enemy of Nigeria. It warned that such remarks show the possibility of violent actions from some members of the Obidient movement.
The Labour Party urged security agencies to closely monitor the activities of Obidient supporters, stressing that their actions could endanger national peace and stability.
In his words, “We wish to call the IGP to arrest Tanko Yunusa for treason and incitement, and transfer Mrs Precious Oruche’s case to Abuja and place Mr Peter Obi on a security watch list as he’s known to have been demarketting Nigeria and Calling for war, Destabilization as it happened in Nepal.” See, More, Here>>>
