Nigeria is currently facing an intense hunger and inflation crisis that has pushed many citizens to the brink. As frustration grows, a group of mobilizers has emerged, urging the people to take a stand. “We must speak and fight for ourselves. Nobody else can do it for us,” they assert, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing the nation’s economic woes.

Nigerians have endured significant hardships due to what many see as reckless public policies and unsustainable economic strategies. These have exacerbated the suffering of the populace, leaving them with little choice but to express their frustration through legitimate means. “Nigerians have been subjected to unnecessary suffering through reckless public utterances and unsustainable economic policies. This leaves them with no option but to make clear their frustration and anger through acceptable means,” the mobilizers explained.

The call to action has been particularly directed towards the youth, who are encouraged to participate in peaceful protests to demand change. “Protest is our right. We must protest against the ongoing bad governance,” they declared, stressing the urgency of the situation. The mobilizers are organizing a series of demonstrations, starting on the 1st of August, to pressure the government into reversing detrimental economic policies.

“if the government fails to reverse this disaster and call off economic policies that have subjected us to abject poverty and hunger, the protest will continue until the 10th of August 2024 or even beyond,” they warned.
