A Democracy And Good Governance Advocate and Scholar, Professor Ibrahim Jibrin has alleged that millions of Nigerian youths have reportedly procured fire arms from the black market. He lamented that as Nigerians increasingly lose faith in the ruling class’s ability to improve their lives, self-help has emerged as a new ideology.

He argued that the ruling class’s policies have been disastrous for the economy and detrimental to the survival of the populace. He stated that the promised reforms and positive initiatives have not materialized, especially for the poor and vulnerable people who remain untouched by the so-called palliatives.

He said in an interview with Channels TV From 6:19, ”Because there is an abandonment of policy implementation on all sectors of the society, you have on the other hand the economy collapsing completely. And in addition to that has been the massive growth of insecurity. As more Nigerians realize that this ruling class is not going to do anything for them, self help have become a new ideology. We have been told that millions of Nigerian youths are now procuring arms from the black market.

It tells you that this society has realized that the ruling class is extremely irresponsible and has not focused on the development of the society. The specific policies that were put in place have been extremely disastrous for the economy and for the survival of the people within that economy. And those positive policies that were promised, the poor Nigerians have never seen that palliative. We are told on a daily basis that billions have been given to state governments and to Federal ministries to address the problems of the poor. But most of us who are in contact with the poor people, we have never met any poor Nigerian that had ever benefitted from what is being said.”….Sêe_Morē
