According to a report by The Sun Newspaper on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place his trust and confidence in God rather than be influenced by global powers or leaders, particularly U.S. President Donald Trump. The monarch made this known during the annual Olodumare Festival held in Iwo on Sunday.
The royal father emphasized that President Tinubu’s success in leadership would depend on his spiritual devotion and his willingness to acknowledge God’s supremacy above all things. He urged the president to focus more on divine guidance and not be swayed by political or international pressures.
According to the Oluwo, Iwoland has remained peaceful and untouched by conflict because the people have consistently devoted themselves to the worship of God. He stressed that divine protection is guaranteed for any leader or nation that submits fully to God’s authority. He said, “Here in Iwoland, we don’t fear anyone, we don’t fear any nuclear power, we don’t fear Trump. So, Tinubu should not fear Trump; he should fear God. He does not need to fear nuclear power; he should fear God (Olodumare). That is why Iwo has never been ravaged by war.”
The monarch described the annual Olodumare Festival as a sacred gathering dedicated to seeking divine intervention for the land and its people. He said the purpose of this year’s event was to cleanse the community from generational curses and to renew the people’s faith in God.
He also advised other traditional rulers across Yoruba land to embrace true representation of God in their palaces and abandon idol worship. The king maintained that only God has the authority to appoint and sustain kings, and traditional institutions must reflect divine principles in their service to the people. View, More,
