A pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, known as Professionals in PDP, has urged the party’s governors and leaders to address what they described as the excesses of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as reported by Vanguard.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Sam Segun-Progress, and made available to the press in Osogbo, the group called for decisive action to be taken against Wike.

The group expressed dissatisfaction with Wike’s recent behavior, describing his public statements as arrogant and unbecoming of a party leader.

They questioned why Wike seemed to be above party discipline and why the party’s leadership had not taken steps to address his actions.

Statement read: “The recent display of arrogance and uninformed outburst of the Minister of the FCT is not only shameless but demeaning and unbecoming of a supposed leader.

“Is Wike above the law or the party? What makes him special is that he will be challenging the party leadership with no responses and daring us to act.

“We must ask the national executives what makes Wike special. Why can’t they call him to order if he is too big to be disciplined? We ask our Governors’ why are they afraid of Wike. Why are they quiet over his affronts?”

Professionals in PDP challenged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), accusing them of being incompetent and cowardly in their failure to act against Wike.

They stated that the NWC’s inaction could lead to further destabilization within the party if not addressed.

The group warned that if the NWC continued to shy away from its responsibilities, they would mobilize efforts to reset the party’s leadership. They stated that they would not hesitate to take action if the current leadership remained ineffective in managing internal conflicts.
