According to Fox News, Pete Hegseth has issued a sharp warning to America’s allies, criticizing what he described as an overreliance on the United States.

In his remarks, he made it clear that Washington expects a more balanced and committed approach from partner nations, declaring, “The time for free riding is over.”

Hegseth stressed that alliances should be built on shared responsibility rather than dependence, arguing that the United States and its partners must work together in a more equitable way.

He emphasized this point by stating, “America and the free world deserve allies who are capable, who are loyal, and who understand that being an ally is not a one way street.”

His comments suggest growing frustration within U.S. leadership over what is perceived as unequal contributions from allied countries.

Turning to global energy and security concerns, Hegseth downplayed the United States’ reliance on the Strait of Hormuz.

He explained that the country has limited dependence on the route, saying, “We barely use the Strait of Hormuz as a country. Our energy doesn’t flow through there, and we have plenty of energy.”

This remark highlights America’s relative energy independence compared to other regions.

He contrasted this with Europe’s situation, suggesting that European nations are far more dependent on the vital shipping corridor.

Criticizing their approach, Hegseth said, “We are not counting on Europe, but they need the Strait of Hormuz much more than we do,” before adding that they “might want to start doing less talking and having less fancy conferences in Europe and getting a boat.” Read_More…
