US Senator Tom Cotton voiced strong support for former President Donald Trump’s hardline approach toward Iran after reports emerged that Tehran has ordered large quantities of missile materials from China.

Cotton wrote on X, “China is supplying Iran with missiles, knowing full well that they will be used against American troops, our allies, and civilians across the region. President Trump is absolutely right to put maximum pressure on Iran’s terrorist regime.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran has purchased thousands of tons of ammonium perchlorate, a key chemical used to produce solid-fuel ballistic missiles.

This shipment could enable Iran to manufacture up to 800 missiles, significantly boosting its missile arsenal. Some of this material is expected to be supplied to Iran-backed proxy groups like Yemen’s Houthis, who have launched missile attacks against Israel and regional targets.

The procurement comes amid ongoing nuclear negotiations between the US and Iran, which have shown little progress. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei recently rejected a revised nuclear deal that would limit uranium enrichment, further complicating diplomacy.

Meanwhile, Iran is actively rebuilding its missile production capabilities after Israeli strikes damaged key facilities last year.

China’s Foreign Ministry claimed it was unaware of the contract and emphasized strict controls on dual-use exports, but the shipment highlights growing military collaboration between Iran and China.

The US has responded by imposing new sanctions targeting Iran’s missile supply networks.

Senator Cotton’s remarks underline bipartisan concern in Washington over Iran’s expanding missile threat and the need for sustained pressure on Tehran to curb its regional aggression and nuclear ambitions.
