In a recent interview on TVC News from 9:02, Umar Jijiwa, Director General of the Youth Jagaban Network and APC youth advocate, reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement alleging a Christian genocide in Nigeria. Jijiwa emphasized that Nigeria has the capacity to handle its security challenges independently.

He stated, “We have people here ready to risk their lives; they are soldiers who swear to die for us,” stressing that Nigerian forces have the manpower, dedication, and courage to confront violent groups effectively. According to Jijiwa, what is required are adequate military resources, such as helicopters and weapons, to enable troops to operate efficiently and protect citizens across the country.

Jijiwa dismissed claims of targeted attacks on any specific religion or ethnic group, describing such allegations as exaggerated and politically motivated. He highlighted that insecurity affects all regions in Nigeria, and the government has made notable progress in reducing kidnappings, bombings, and violent attacks compared to previous years.

He also urged international partners to support Nigeria in ways that empower local forces rather than through direct military intervention. “Providing weapons and logistical support allows our soldiers to act decisively while preserving national sovereignty,” he said, insisting that foreign troops are unnecessary.

Jijiwa called on the government to continue strengthening intelligence operations and improving coordination among security agencies to ensure efficient responses to threats. His remarks underline the APC’s stance that Nigeria has both the people and the resolve to defend itself, and that practical support, not interference, is the key to restoring lasting peace.
