Former Osun State Governor and ex-National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has alleged that powerful interests within the ruling All Progressives Congress may be plotting to block President Bola Tinubu from seeking re-election in 2027.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV from 22:24, Oyinlola claimed that the real strategy of the APC is to quietly amass control of the National Assembly in order to secure enough legislative power to push the president aside if necessary.

“The tactics of the ruling party is to ensure that the president does not run in 2027,” Oyinlola stated. “All he needs to do is to walk, because if he has two-thirds of the majority of the house, which he is just two senators away, that’s secured for whatever he wants to do. And that’s why they must get more, it won’t be long before they get that too.”

According to Oyinlola, the danger lies not in open opposition but in silent political maneuvers, as the APC inches closer to securing a two-thirds majority in the legislature, enough to determine the direction of major constitutional or political actions, including the fate of Tinubu’s re-election.

He warned that such legislative strength could be used to implement plans that may not align with the president’s personal ambitions, suggesting that Tinubu’s political future might be shaped not by external opposition but by internal party forces.

The former PDP stalwart’s comments have sparked speculation about possible divisions within the APC and the extent to which political loyalty may shift ahead of 2027. It also raises concerns about the influence of legislative dominance in presidential politics and the fragile nature of internal democracy within the ruling party.
