Former Spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, Segun Showunmi, has clearly stated that he isn’t obligated to remain a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, he described the PDP as a destroyed institution in need of serious efforts from its members to address its long-standing crisis.
Showunmi deemed himself capable of reviving the PDP but noted that it would be a very difficult task for him to take on. He pointed out clearly that he isn’t mandated to endure the stress of reviving the party and might eventually decide to opt for another political platform.
The PDP chieftain expressed his willingness to join the APC if he is called upon by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to assist in the current administration. Unbothered by the backlash he might receive from Nigerians on the internet, he said he would be willing to help his brother (Tinubu) if given the opportunity.
His words: “If you people are jealous, the President is my brother, if he dares tell me to come and help him, I won’t even ask you before I go and you can hang if you want because he is my brother. When your brother was there, did you see me go there and start begging for food?. Jonathan was President in this country, I never visited. When he lost, his father of blessed memory who was going like father of government where the ones to first throw him under the bus”.
