The Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma has alleged that it is premature for anyone to initiate protests at this early stage of the current government’s tenure, especially since the reasons for the protests have not been clearly communicated. He highlighted the global and domestic challenges, particularly the pervasive insecurity in Nigeria, which creates a fragile environment.

He warned that without careful management and protection, this fragility could lead to broader instability. He questioned the rationale behind the proposed protests, stressing the need for clarity and caution, given the potential risks to national security. He concluded by advising well-meaning Nigerians to safeguard the country’s stability.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 0:03, ”Democracy is about the opinion of the people and protest is allowed in a democratic setting. But every protest must be reasonably conceived to be able to make political sense. It is too early at the time of this government for anyone to come out to say he wants to protest. First of all, those sponsoring the protest have not told us the main reason for the protest.

And secondly given the global situation. today and the insecurity in the country. We have a very fragile environment that is not managed and protected very well, it may collapse the entire country. So those who are going to protest, what is the reason for the protest? And if they have no reason for the protest, I advise that well meaning Nigerians should guide our country very jealously. I think this is the wrong time for anybody to do any protest. Because the implication is that the protest may be hijacked like the End SARS experience.”….Seë_Morë
