The All Progressives Congress (APC) caretaker chairman in Rivers State has defended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike against recent allegations while clarifying the minister’s political standing amid ongoing speculations.
Speaking on a broadcast Symfoni TV from 10:15, Tony Okocha addressed accusations against the former Rivers governor. “What is Wike’s business in this matter. They are claiming that Minister Wike is bribing the judiciary. They’re targeting him with propaganda to pressure the president (Tinubu) to remove him from the cabinet,” he stated.
Okocha praised Wike’s performance in the current administration, emphasizing his significant contributions. “How can they take away the winning team? If there’s any minister today promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda in Nigeria, it’s him. He’s deeply rooted and is the ‘star boy’ of the government of President Tinubu,” he declared.
The APC chairman’s remarks suggest that while Wike remains politically affiliated with the PDP, his role in implementing President Tinubu’s “renewed hope” agenda transcends party lines. This clarification comes amid ongoing speculation about Wike’s political allegiances and his relationship with the current administration.
The statement appears aimed at countering what Okocha views as orchestrated attempts to undermine Wike’s position in the federal cabinet through various allegations.
