A Security Expert, Dr. Salihu Dantata has alleged that some retired Military generals are involved in the illegal gold mining business in Zamfara state. He criticized the failure of the judicial system, security apparatus, and intelligence agencies in holding these individuals accountable.

He expressed disappointment that former President Buhari’s promise to publish the names of terrorism sponsors was not fulfilled, and instead, only names of Bureau De Change operators were released. He emphasized that the known retired generals involved in the insecurity in the North were not held accountable. He suggested that a policy of “leave and let’s live” should be adopted, implying a need for a new approach to address the issue.

He said in an interview with Arise TV From 6:30, ”There is a question of who is somewhere that is masterminding the armed Banditry in Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Niger. The issue is about politics and business. There is illegal gold mining in Zamfara and some retired army generals are involved. So the issues are that our Judicial system, our security apparatus especially the civil police that are empowered as well as the DSS with intelligence gathering have failed in their responsibility.

They have failed to charge these retired army generals who are suspects to Court. There are certain forces in Zamfara, Kastina and Sokoto that are above the law. Buhari promised Nigerians that he was going to publish the names of people sponsoring terrorism but all they brought out were names of people operating Bureau De Change. And not the known retired generals that are heavily involved in the Insecurity in the North. I think we must bring the policy of leave and let’s live.”….VìêwMôrë
