In a candid interview on Arise TV, the president of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu called for a coordinated effort among the military, governors, and elders of the Southeast to tackle the growing insecurity in the region.

He acknowledged that part of the problem was the escape of criminals from prison who had since taken refuge in the bushes, with no means of sustenance.

In an effort to address this issue, he intended to convene a meeting of the Southeast governors and elders to discuss a holistic approach to the region’s security challenges.

In the video from 6:07, He said, “I’m going to appeal to the military to give us some time in the Southeast. I intend to call all the five governors of the Southeast, I am going to summon a meeting of the elders of the Southeast. We are now going to address this problem very seriously. The problem in the Southeast is that there are criminals who broke away from jail. And these people who broke away from jail, they live in bushes and most of them have no money at all. They don’t have any means of livelihood.”….Sée Móre
