Dahiru Musa, the chairman of the NURTW in Okigwe, where gunmen suspected to be IPOB members allegedly killed drivers and burned their trucks, confirmed an incident that happened and said that the drivers of the truck were killed and the suspected IPOB members went on to burn the truck, which was loaded with garri.
As reported by the Daily Trust News, the NURTW chairman said, “Suspected Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members had blocked the road and opened fire on them on Saturday.” They killed the drivers and went on to burn the truck, which was fully loaded with garri.”
Talking about the incident, the NURTW chairman said that the gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra blocked the road and then started shooting them. He said the scene of the incident was visited by the DPO of Okigwe Police Station and soldiers. He said their corpses were taken to a hospital by him and the police, and the victims were buried after funeral prayers were offered.
The spokesperson of the NURTW revealed the names of the drivers as Haruna Muhammad and Adamu Ibrahim. He said northern drivers plying the road are not safe.
