Osita Ogenyi, an eyewitness, revealed that the suspected herdsmen that invaded the Agu-Amed Autonomous community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzu local government area, did not shoot their guns initially, but they were slaughtering people with machetes.
Reports indicate that suspected herdsmen were airlifted into the community by helicopters, which also hovered overhead during and after the attack.
Osita Ogenyi said that the victims’ bodies were recovered in a brutal state. Two individuals remain missing despite extensive searches of the surrounding areas. Efforts to locate them are ongoing. The devastating attack by suspected herdsmen has claimed the lives of about seven people.
According to reports by the Punch News, Osita Ogenyi said, “They invaded the community around 5 pm, and they didn’t shoot their guns initially. They were slaughtering people with machetes until people got the information, and then they started shooting. Before you know it, they disappeared.”
