In a statement on Thursday, Ali Fadavi, the Deputy Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), expressed what he called a “divine promise” regarding the ultimate defeat of the “Zionist regime.”
Fadavi’s words, shared on Israel International’s English Twitter account, claimed, “The entire world will bear witness as the complete downfall of the Zionist regime fulfills the triumph of righteousness over falsehood.” His message further stated, “The party of God shall prevail, and the party of evil shall face defeat,” underscoring Iran’s long-standing position of viewing Israel as a significant adversary.
Fadavi’s remarks reflect ongoing rhetoric from Iranian officials, who often use strong language to emphasize their opposition to Israel. Statements of this nature, framing geopolitical conflicts in religious or ideological terms, frequently come from high-ranking IRGC officials. The IRGC, a powerful branch of Iran’s armed forces, is influential in regional politics and has repeatedly positioned itself as a supporter of groups opposed to Israel’s presence in the region.
Internationally, Fadavi’s comments are likely to heighten existing tensions between Iran and Israel, already exacerbated by regional conflicts and Iran’s growing nuclear program. His statement, describing the conflict as a battle between “the party of God” and “the party of evil,” aligns with ideological narratives often used by Iran’s leadership.
