The 2023 Governorship Candidate of the SDP in Kogi State, Murtala Ajaka has alleged that the Friday attack on him was staged by the Kogi Commissioner for Solid Mineral, Bashir Gegu. He accused Bashir Gegu of coordinating the attack and bribing young boys to carry out the mob action.

He stated that the mobs were misled by those who sent them, thinking they had lost the case at the Supreme Court. He expressed concern that if such violence is allowed to continue, it will undermine democracy. He also expressed his displeasure over the Supreme Court Judgment that Usman Ododo is the rightful winner of the Kogi state 2023 Election.

He said in an interview with Arise TV from 4:51, ”Kogi state politics since 2016 when the former Governor took over, it has always been violence upon violence. But the Friday attack was coordinated by the Kogi Commissioner for solid mineral Bashir Gegu. The Supreme Court can review their CCTV camera, he (Bashir Gegu) came to the Court and shared money to the young boys there and I have evidence to support this my claim.

I’m not perturbed in anyway by the action of the mob but my fear is that if we allow this to continue be as a state, then there is no need for democracy. The mobs were ill-informed by those that sent them to come and carry out that action. They thought they had lost the case at the Supreme Court. Although we believed we were going to win because we had our points clear in Court and we were looking for victory but the Nigerian system failed us. But we are not against them because they are the Supreme Court, the apex Court in the country.”….VïêwMôrê
