Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has reacted to the planned nationwide protest against economic hardship, describing it as politically motivated.

In a video shared by Channels TV from 33:05, Wike stated that people are unhappy about hunger and unemployment however these issues were not created by President Tinubu’s administration. He emphasized that the current government is working to address these problems, but it will take time to see results. He empathized with Nigerians, recognizing that when people are hungry, they are less likely to be patient or receptive to explanations. However, he urged the public to understand that efforts are being made to solve these issues.

Wike also warned the people against being influenced by individuals he described as “political jobbers,” who are using the situation to gain popularity.

In Wike’s words: “The protest is a political protest. Yes everybody is not happy that there is hunger and unemployment but this hunger and unemployment was not created by Tinubu’s administration and the administration is just trying to put things together which takes some time. You know I agree with Nigerians that when you are hungry you don’t want to listen to anything again because you are hungry, but understand that somebody is trying to solve that problem of hunger. So let us not listen to political jobbers who just want to be popular”….Seë_Morë
