The Chairman of the Tax Reform Committee, Taiwo Oyedele has reacted after he was asked if a consultant like Alpha Beta in Lagos state will be used to collect revenues.
His response was contained in a viral video that was posted on the official X handle of Channels TV from 0.41.
In the viral video that surfaced online, after the question was thrown at him, he responded by saying the government is not planning to use any consultant.
He said using consultants to collect tax is one of the biggest problems confronting the Nigeria’s economy today.
The presenter asked him;
“Are you planning to use a consultant like Alpha Beta in Lagos state to collect the revenues?”.
He responded by saying that;
“The answer is no. Infact we had a very interesting debate at the committee level. We wanted to put a language in the law that says; no government should use a consultant to collect tax. We think that’s one of the biggest problems in our economy today. I can confirm to you 100% that there is no plan whatsoever to use consultants”.
