Minister of Works Senator David Umahi has dismissed claims that Peter Obi left over $50 million in the treasury when he left office as governor, saying this should not be celebrated as an achievement.
Speaking during a media coverage from 0:39 on Channels Television, Umahi said, “Somebody was telling me when we had a small debate that Peter left $50 million after he left office and I told him two things. Obiano said to Peter Obi that look you left this money in the bank but look at the contractors you are owing. So by the time he took the money and paid the contractors, everything was in the negative.”
He further argued that Obi cannot claim to be saving money while Anambra citizens are hungry, industries are collapsing, and roads remain in poor condition.
He also accused supporters of the former Anambra State governor of trying to downplay the achievements of President Bola Tinubu, particularly the coastal road project.
