Former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has taken to his official X account on Thursday to react after the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu said Nigeria needs $10 billion to achieve uninterrupted power supply.
According to DAILY POST, the Nigerian government said the country needs $10 billion in investment in the power within five to ten years to achieve a 24-hour electricity supply.
According to DAILY POST;
“The investment required in the power sector is very huge, and the government cannot fund it alone, so we have to leverage the financing capacity of the private sector. That is why the ICRC was set up to regulate this leverage”.
Reacting to the report, Shehu Sani said over $20 billion has been spent on power supply in the last 24 years.
According to Shehu Sani on his page;
“If actually only $10Billion is what is needed to give all Nigerians 24hours of electricity, then one would wonder where are the over $20 billion ‘spent on power’ in the last 24 years”.
