Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi has made a shocking claim about the marriage of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan alleging that she pressured her husband into marrying her under duress.
Speaking in an interview on News Central TV from 2:08, Nwaebonyi stated that Akpoti-Uduaghan gave her husband two options, either to marry her or pay a sum of ₦10 billion.
“Even her present husband, she married him out of something like this. She threatened to sue the man and have a letter circulating over the world. That the man should pay her 10 billion or marry her. The man had to marry her,” Nwaebonyi alleged.
His claims have stirred controversy with many questioning the nature of the senator’s marriage and the implications of such an accusation.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, a strong political figure and women’s rights advocate has not responded to Nwaebonyi’s remarks but her supporters argue that this is an attempt to tarnish her reputation.
Political analysts believe the senator’s comments are part of a wider political battle given the increasing rivalry among lawmakers.
Some critics see it as an effort to discredit Akpoti-Uduaghan who has been vocal about various social and political issues in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, reactions from the public remain divided. While some believe the allegations are an attack on her character, others suggest that if true, they raise concerns about personal and ethical conduct in politics.
As debates continue, observers await a response from Akpoti-Uduaghan or her husband regarding the claims.
