‎According to a report by Punch on Sunday, October 19, 2025, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, reaffirmed his belief in Nigeria’s unity, declaring that the progress of the South-East region is inseparable from that of the country. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the former Central Bank governor dismissed calls for secession and urged the people of the South-East to embrace dialogue and coexistence as the only path to lasting peace and development.

Soludo emphasised that while he supports peaceful agitation and the right to protest, violence and division only harm the interests of the Igbo people. He said that the sit-at-home order, once imposed in parts of the South-East, has waned due to improved security and public awareness. According to him, the future of the region lies in constructive engagement, not isolation.

The governor appealed to Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other regional leaders to work together in shaping a collective vision for the South-East, especially in the context of national integration and economic inclusion. He stated that no single individual holds the monopoly of ideas on the region’s destiny, urging unity of purpose among its people.

Reiterating his faith in a united Nigeria, Soludo said, “The Igbo man needs Nigeria and Nigeria needs the Igbo man. The Igbo man needs Africa, and Africa needs the Igbo man. We are an itinerant people who cannot afford to be intolerant.” He added that his administration remains focused on governance and development, not political activism, stressing that collaboration, tolerance, and national harmony remain vital for progress.
