Gift Worlu, former Rivers State Commissioner for Housing under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration, has spoken about the political crisis in the state and President Tinubu’s intervention.
In a video shared by TVC from 23:57, Worlu said Governor Fubara had personally reached out to President Tinubu and pleaded with him to help resolve the crisis in Rivers. He said Tinubu responded by inviting Fubara and other key stakeholders, including him (Worlu), to a meeting in Abuja where they discussed and reached an agreement to resolve the crisis
Gift further stated that after the meeting, Governor Fubara returned to Rivers State and publicly announced that he was committed to implementing the terms of the agreement. However, a few weeks later, Fubara reversed his stance, claiming that the agreement lacked constitutional backing. He said the crisis would have been resolved if Fubara didn’t go back on his word.
In Worlu’s words: “It was our governor Fubara who cried to President Tinubu and possibly knelt down for the president to intervene in the crisis and the president did. He invited all of us, I was there in that meeting in Abuja. We discussed and agreed”
