The APC Caretaker Chairman in Abua/Odual Local Government, Lucky Ottos has alleged that the participation of the 27 Rivers state lawmakers in the PDP recent Congress indicates that they are not genuine members of the APC. He clarified that as a Caretaker Chairman, he received no notice of any defecting lawmakers.
He distinguishes between raising a party flag and actual defection, emphasizing that the 23 lawmakers who raised the APC flag in the house did not formally defect. He explained that the procedures for crossing over to another party involve meeting certain conditions and following protocol. He shares his personal experience of defecting from the PDP to the APC, highlighting that he went through the proper channels, including registering with the party and obtaining a party card.
He said in an interview with TVC From 1:53, ”I am a Chieftain of the All Progress Congress in Rivers State. As a Caretaker Chairman of the party, I was not served any notice that anybody ruined our party. The 23 Lawmakers didn’t defect to APC, they only raised that party flag in the house. Holding a flag doesn’t mean defection by any means. I’m a politician and before I can cross-carpet, I have to meet certain conditions.
If I want to go to PDP, I will go to my Ward and I will write a letter to the party. I defected from the PDP with Rotimi Amaechi to the APC and I did that through the ward leadership. I was registered by the party and they gave me a party card. If the Lawmakers are in APC, why are they participating in the PDP Congress?
