Renowned human rights activist and freedom agitator, Omoyele Sowore has recounted his ordeal and why he ran after he led several protesters in support of the detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in Abuja on Monday. According to his statements which were shared by ChannelsTv on their official X handle, he pointed out that after telling the security operatives that they were not enemies, they shot at them sporadically.
Many were left stunned after footages from the scene of the protest organized in support of the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu went viral across various social media platforms.
Activist and former presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, the organizer stole the show after he was captured running hysterically, apparently attempting to save his dear life.
Speaking with ChannelsTv on their morning show on Monday October 20th 2025, the activist recounted his ordeal and that of others after the came under resistance from security operatives.
According to his statements which had sparked massive reactions, he pointed out that after telling the security operatives that they were not their enemies, they went ahead and opened fire on them.
The security operatives, according to Omoyele Sowore, compromised of the police, the army and several members of the civil defense. He further pointed out that the demonstration was not about them, but a demand for fairness, justice and equity.
While the incident had been condemned by many, others believed the protest which was supposed to be peaceful, was turned into a chaotic demonstration, hence, the security operatives acted within acceptable standards. See, More, Here>>>
