In a recent interview with Arise News From 7:23, International Policy Scholar Pat Utomi strongly rebuked Bayo Onanuga’s accusations of treason, questioning his understanding of the term. Onanuga, a senior spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, had earlier stated that any attempt against the government using the #10DaysOfRage, amounts to treason.
Utomi, with his extensive background in political science, offered to educate Onanuga on the true meaning of treason. He recalled his own experiences leading protests on the streets of Lagos, even during military regimes, as a demonstration of his commitment to democratic rights.
Utomi’s response highlights the importance of understanding the legal and political implications of accusations like treason. He emphasized that Onanuga’s statements demonstrate a lack of knowledge about the concept, and he is willing to enlighten him.

“Does Mr Bayo Onanuga know the meaning of Treason. I as a Senior Executive of a Multinational, led protest on the street of Lagos, joined by many of those who work in this government. That was my democratic right. Even in the military regime, I exercised that. Who is Bayo Onanuga to talk about Treason, what does he know Treason means.
