Former Spokesperson of the Labour Party, Kenneth Okonkwo, has confidently claimed that an administration led by either Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar would have been better than the current regime of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking in an interview with Arise News Television from 11:51, he noted that Atiku Abubakar had already served as Vice President in a better administration led by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He strongly believes these two political heavyweights would have done a better job than the current leadership.
He said: “One thing I have always said is that Peter Obi and Atiku will be better than this regime, that I am sure of because Atiku was the Vice President under Obasanjo’s regime”.
On the subject of coalition, he stated clearly that they are still in the discussion stage, trying to reach a final agreement on whether to merge with an existing political party or create a new one for the next presidential election. He said it would have been preferable to create a new political party if INEC had operated effectively in a country where the rule of law is guaranteed.
His words: “If we are in a nation where rule of law is guaranteed under this kind of INEC, it would have been preferred to have a new party all together registered where everybody will move in. When the INEC has the tendency of inordinately delaying what is apparent, you can’t put all your eggs in one basket”.
