According to Daily Post, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, criticized former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questioning his performance while in office and accusing him of not truly caring for the nation and his people.

Wike contrasted his administration’s accomplishments within two years to Obi’s eight years as governor of Anambra State.

He argued that despite Obi’s longer time in power, his achievements were limited compared to the expectations he now places on others.

Wike said, “Mr Peter Obi we just came to the office two years ago, we have not even spent four years but you spent eight years. Compare the two years we have spent in office with the eight years in office in Anambra, can you really say you love this country? Can you really say you love Ndi-Anambra? Certainly not.”

He further took aim at Obi’s political approach, criticizing his regular visits to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and attendance at social events.

Wike argued that such actions are merely symbolic and do not reflect the qualities required for genuine national leadership.

The minister added, “If I were you why not keep quiet, enough is enough, you can’t be President of Nigeria only when you go to one IDP camp or birthday party, who is interested in all those things?”

Wike’s comments highlight the increasing friction between the two political leaders, as he persists in countering Obi’s critiques of his government.
