One of the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Segun Showunmi has reacted after the governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani revealed what he has been receiving as salary since he assumed office.
In a viral video that was shared online, the Kaduna state governor stated that he has been receiving half of his salary since he assumed office. He said when his administration came on board, they sat down and concluded that they need to cut down the cost of governance because no fewer than 60% of the population are living below the poverty line. Uba Sani said he asked his deputy if they could reduce their allowances and he agreed.
The Kaduna state governor said;
“When we came in, we sat down with them and said look, charity begins at home. We have to cut the cost of governance in Kaduna state. We are running a state where at least 60% of the population are living below the poverty line. I said to the Deputy Governor, can we reduce this allowances because it is too much? They all agreed collectively even myself. They need to cut my salary into two. So, today I’m receiving half of my salary since I became governor of Kaduna state”.
Reacting to the statement that was made by the Kaduna state governor, Showunmi said other governors need to emulate what Uba Sani has done.
Segun Showunmi wrote on his page;
“This is what others need to emulate. Officials can not feed fat, yet delay improved wages and salaries of workers”….Sée Móre
