Kassim Afegbua, a former commissioner in Edo State and an ally of Governor Monday Okpebholo, has denied claims made by Martins Oghenewore that he reported his son’s crimes to the police. Martins’ house, a duplex, was demolished by the Edo State government after it was discovered that his son killed a lady in the house for organ harvesting and kept other kidnapped victims there.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with AIT from 28:20, Afegbua stated that the police discovered the house after one of the kidnapped victims secretly sent his location to his cousin who is a soldier. He explained that the victim had been kept in the house for over a year
Afegbua disclosed that the victim was forced into internet fraud, known as “Yahoo Yahoo,” and was allowed access to a phone. He said the boy cleverly sent a Google location of the house to his cousin in the military and immediately turned off the phone to avoid being caught. He said the soldier quickly alerted security agents and that was how the authorities found the house and rescued the victims.
Afegbua insisted that Martins had no role in alerting the police and accused him of lying. He said this was part of the reason why Martins is still facing prosecution. He said “That house was harbouring kidnaped victims, there was a guy who had been kept there for one and a half years. (Whether it is the father or the son all we know is that a boy was kept there plus children, we didn’t want to expose them to the public for obvious reason)
“Now that particular boy was conscripted into what they call Yahoo Yahoo, the boy that was kidnapped. He was now given telephone facility and the guy smartly sent a Google location of that building to his [cousin] in the military. (They had forgotten the boy, they thought he was already dead). He said ‘look at where I am, this is the Google location’. Then he switched off the phone so that it won’t be discovered. That soldier he sent it to was his cousin and the soldier alerted the authorities. That was how they followed that Google location to locate that house, not any father reporting to the police. That father was just telling lies, that is why he is still being prosecuted”
